One Thing Necessary

Distractions were meant to keep you from recognizing and doing the necessary thing.  We see evidence of this statement in Luke 10:38-42.

Martha had welcomed Jesus into her home and immediately upon His arrival, she begins to make preparations as Mary sits at His feet to commune and hear the Lord’s word.  “But Martha was distracted with all her preparations:” (verse 40).

Seeing that she was left to do all the work while her sister did nothing ruffled Mary’s feathers.  She became indignant and walked up to Jesus saying “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone?  Tell her to help me!”  Jesus responded “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things: but only a few things are necessary, really only one, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”(verse 4-42)

"Just Come Like a Child..." ~ Abba

"COME LIKE A CHILD..."  These words have been pressed into my spirit more than once in the past few weeks.  Today, I heard them again.  I searched the bible for scriptures and came across these:

But Yeshua said to the, "Let the children come to me and do not forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these." ~ Matthew 19:14

And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 18:3

Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." ~ Mark 10:15

When I think about a child, I am reminded of their innocence.  Their vulnerability to love unconditionally. Their ability to forgive their offenders quickly and easily - they are merciful.  Their care-free attitude in displaying affection - they are compassionate.   They find joy in the smallest things -  they are content.  Their perception of people is without judgment.   They know how to express themselves - they speak with sincerity of heart.

America & The Church - Repent and Return!

 
[As the secretary to President Obama, I was entering the Presidential office when I saw the President with a man who was his personal physical therapist.  The President was undressed with only a white towel wrapped around his waist as he laid on a table having his back massaged.  When I entered the room, he was startled and arose quickly to greet me.  He immediately directed me not to disclose what I saw.  He was very secretive about the therapist and what he was there for.

I happen to glance over to the President's desk and there were piles of books.  There was a small New Testament and a very large and thick book.  I saw the name "Graham" on the spine as the author.  The title of the book was "Psalm 5".  There were several other Christian literature books but my attention was drawn to the NT and the thick book.  However, all the books were vintage.  The President noticed my glance towards the books and he quickly interjected and lead me away to my desk which was in the same room as his.

He again reiterated the importance of not disclosing what I have seen as he pulled out my chair so I can sit down.  He was very cordial.  Moments later there was a man approaching the office and I quickly rose up from my chair and stood by the entrance to keep him from entering because there was no door.  I notified him that the President was not available to meet with him.   The man was adamant in seeing the President as he tried to force his way in but I had blocked him.  Then the President, fully dressed, met us at the entrance where we were standing.  I left.]

Just Do It

 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

~ John 2:5 ~

Mary the mother of Jesus perceives a need and made it known to Jesus although He was aware of it Himself. He responded that it was not His time. 

Regardless Mary admonishes the disciples to obey whatever Jesus asks of them. She made preparations for the miracle knowing that obedience is the key to unlock them: "Whatever He says to you, do it.".

Jesus said to them, "Fill the waterpots with water." And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, "Draw some out now, and take it to the headwaiter." And they took it to him. (v.7-8)

In memory of those who have lost their lives in Oklahoma.  Some of them were children.....Say a prayer as you light one of the candles on behalf of those they left behind.  There are mothers, father's, daughters, sons, nieces, cousins, nephews, grandsons, granddaughters, aunts, uncles, friends, co-workers, schoolmates that will be missed....Pray that Holy Spirit will come and comfort them and shower them with God's love and peace....

Plead Your Case: Guilty or Not Guilty

But I have this [one charge to make] against you: that you have left (abandoned) the love that you had at first [you have deserted Me, your first love] ~ Rev. 2:4 (Amplified Bible)

In Revelations this charge is against the Ephesus assembly. And today this same charge is held against the “church” both individually and corporately.


In the previous verses the angel (messenger) acknowledges their endurance and their intolerance of the wicked as well as testing and judging those who call themselves apostles. In doing so they have found them to be impostors and liars!

The Ephesus assembly was recognized for their industry and activities, laborious toil and trouble. Yet in all their toiling for the Lord’s Namesake physically they have deserted Him spiritually. Their hearts have abandoned their first love.

An Unusual Divine Appointment

What is a “divine appointment”? It is a ‘meeting’ which was inspired and God led. Divine appointments are supernaturally orchestrated by God with purpose and are NOT coincidental.

Our finite mind narrows our perception of these ‘meetings’ as an opportunity to hand a tract, evangelize and pray for others. Therefore, we pray for these encounters; pack our tracts and with bibles in our hands we venture out.

Where are the Praying People?

Have you ever entered into a prayer meeting to find all the seats occupied? I don't think anyone has ever had trouble finding a seat on those nights! Unfortunately, many are persuaded to stay home and quote "be there" in spirit or so they say.

Prayer is more than just making our requests known to the Lord, but it is a tool accompanied with the Word of God that transforms into a spiritual weapon along with praise!
