And he said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ~ Matthew 18:3
Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." ~ Mark 10:15
When I think about a child, I am reminded of their innocence. Their vulnerability to love unconditionally. Their ability to forgive their offenders quickly and easily - they are merciful. Their care-free attitude in displaying affection - they are compassionate. They find joy in the smallest things - they are content. Their perception of people is without judgment. They know how to express themselves - they speak with sincerity of heart.
Have you ever told a child to jump into your arms - promising that you will catch them? Before you finish your sentence they leaped into your arms. They trust without doubt or hesitation. They live fearlessly.....sometimes too much for their own good. :)
As I look back at the things above, I can clearly see why Father is calling me to "come like a child". The characteristics of a child is what Father desires for us all to change into and approach Him as such.

As adults we have forgotten what it is to sit on daddy's lap. We are in a constant rush to accomplish tasks that we even rush our time with Him. When we do sit before Him, our minds are distracted. We don't even know what to say. We fumble with scriptures and our words as we try to eloquently pray. But Father says to us "just come like a child....sit on my lap and just talk to me. Tell me what is on your heart. No need to find the right words. I already know. I just want to commune with you. To share in your concerns, and burdens as I hold you close to my heart. To give you joy for your sorrows. To reassure you that you don't need to pretend - I love you just the same. I am your Father and you are my child - come to me as such. "
