Let Down Your Nets Again

As I was reading Luke 5:1-11 this morning, I felt the Spirit of the LORD encourage me to lay down my net again and to encourage you to lay down yours.  Although this chapter speaks about the first disciples and becoming fishers of men, the LORD used this chapter to speak to my heart on a current situation.

You see, there are times when we have worked hard in ministry, worked hard in relationships, worked hard in the gym, worked hard in sharing the gospel, worked hard in establishing a business, worked hard in writing, worked hard in creating, worked hard in prayer, worked hard in producing something favorable!  We even work hard to read the word  to understand it….Yet, after much doing we come up short.  Discouragement enters and we give up.

“Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch. And Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at Your bidding I will let down the nets.  And when they had done this they enclosed a great quantity of fish; and their nets began to break; (V.4-5)

It’s in the deep where we are launched from.  What do I mean?  We wouldn’t have to “work hard” if we position ourselves in the secret place - our launching pad, the birthing place!  It is from our abiding, our communion and posture the anointing overflows - spilling over into the things we are “working on”….

For those who have given up after multiple attempts in establishing something, gaining something, producing something - listen to His bidding this morning to let down your nets again!  Leave everything that you know to do, and follow Him into the secret place and watch your nets be full!!

Be encouraged.  Blessings and love……
