Relationships are difficult to cultivate these days especially in an era where we expect to gain something without putting in the effort. In other words we expect to receive what we ourselves are not willing to give.
Many find it difficult to extend love because they don't know how or they fear to take the risk again. Inside they deeply desire to do so. Therefore they pray that God fills their heart with love so they can love those around them like He does. Still in their asking and receiving, they find themselves still unable to do so.
The other day in prayer I asked the LORD "why is it so hard to love?" I said "You are LOVE because Your word says that you are. (1 John 4:8) Therefore LOVE resides in me. So why do I find it difficult to love like You do?
The LORD answered "because it requires for you to plant the seed that is in you."
He began to show me how without me reaching out; approaching others; moving out of my comfort zone - how will love take root. If the seed is not planted, there is nothing to water - nothing to grow.
How do we plant? By moving beyond thoughts and moving into action. It's not enough to hope, wish, ask and pray for love if we are not going to plant it. Once we plant by our actions, roots will begin to sprout as we continue to cultivate it and God causes it to grow; increase!
"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. ~ 1 Corinthians 3:
