Stones & Planks

I am grateful that we serve a God who loves and knows our heart. He knows our struggles with sin and does not condemn us but empower us by His Spirit to overcome. There are times we walk in the victory and there are moments we don't. For that reason we are instructed to pray "Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:" (Mt. 6:11-13 KJV)

I am thankful that today we are not stoned for ours sins as in the days of old. However today, people throw stones with their words of judgment without knowing a person's walk with the LORD.

We are reminded to first remove the plank that is dodged in our eyes because it keeps us from seeing clearly. Therefore we make assumptions and fall into the temptation to condemn, gossip and slander yet walking in sin ourselves. The word says "But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin." (James 4:16-17)

The right thing to do is pray for others NOT prey on them!

Let me clarify that yes we are commanded to master our sins but apart from God we cannot do nothing (John 15:5). We are not to overdose and take for granted His grace and continue to live in sin. (Read Galatians 5)

We are also commanded to LOVE which compels us to be compassionate and merciful - yes even those we consider our enemies.

If we truly allow the LORD to take the plank out of our eyes, we would see the spirit that is working through a person and the hand that has us blinded as well.

I admit that I've been guilty of stone throwing and trying to pull the speck out of someone's eye while having a plank in mine. I'm married! In marriages we have a greater tendency of doing this. But that's another message.

Regardless, we MUST repent, forgive, ask for forgiveness and forgive ourselves. As well as learn the lesson and refrain from falling into that temptation. Remember, we cannot overcome on our own BUT with God we can!!!

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." ~ 1 Cor. 10:13

"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." ~ Galatians 5:16

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." ~ James 4:7
