"Fill up and complete my joy by living in harmony and being
of the same mind and one in purpose, having the same love,
being in full accord and of one harmonious mind and intention." (Phil.2:2 AMP)
The Apostle Paul had a deep commitment to spiritual
unity. He told the Philipian Christians
that they would fulfill his joy if they would be “like-minded”, of “one accord,”
and of “one mind”. This is consistent with
the fervent prayer of our Lord Jesus as He prayed for spiritual unity (John17:20-23). It is also consistent with
the experience of the early church (Acts 2:42-47) and with the teaching of the
apostles (Eph. 4:3-6; 1Pet.3:8) (Kingdom Dynamics-New Spirit Filled Life Bible NKJV
pg. 1661)
What greater fulfillment do we give our Father in Heaven
when we like Paul come to a deep commitment to spiritual unity. Jesus prayed for us to come into this unity
because there is power in it. He is OUR
greatest testimony of what obedience, humility and unity can accomplish.
We as women of God have been purposed to accomplish a task for
the Kingdom both individually and corporately.
But our effectiveness is dependent upon our unity. It requires us to humble ourselves - not
thinking ourselves to be better than our sister or thinking that our task is
greater than theirs. (Phil. 2:3)
We must take interest not only in our own assignments but
the assignments of our fellow sisters. (Phil. 2:4) It’s putting on the mind of Christ (Phil.2:5) and becoming a servant; not consuming ourselves in making for ourselves a
reputation (Phil 2:7) for the word of God says our gifts will make room for us(Prov. 18:16) BUT coming to a place of
humility and becoming obedient even unto the point of death.(Phil.2:8) Yes death! Death of our flesh; our ambitions;
our desires; our will; our “self”….making ourselves into nothing so that God
can make us into something - fulfilling His will; His desire; His Plan; His joy….
Therefore if you are being pressed on every side be careful
that you are not rebuking the devil thinking it is him causing the
pressure. Instead ask the Lord to see
the source behind it. It just may be
Father because He has need to empty you out of “self” and bring you to a place
of humility and obedience in order to walk in spiritual unity with one another
and HIM.
Just as Father had a work for Jesus that caused him to come
to a place of humility and obedience -
He has a work for you; for me – for US!
UNITY OF PURPOSE AND DISPOSITION AMONG GOD’S PEOPLE ARE
CRUCIAL IF THE GOSPEL IS TO BE MOST EFFECTIVE.
